FACES GONE WITH THE ROAD

FACES GONE WITHH THE ROAD

As I sit down to write this piece, a wave of nostalgia pierced through me, that feeling of the  Unknown yet feeling secured in your present state. I will be writing my final exams in few days and I could only but imagine where all this faces would be in few months to come.
Going 5 years  down memory lane, we as young adults with the wave to succeed stepped into the world of our own, a World where destinies was placed in our hands to make or to mar, young ,honest, innocent,naïve, strong , smart with youthful ebullience, through the tides and storms, in sickness and in health, the sacrifices, the nights, the dawn, the twilight, sunrise to sunset, sun up to daybreak, we fought, wrestled to carve a niche and place our name in the book of life. Along the line ,some died, some bowed to the clutchy hands of failure, some  denied their inner strength while some gone with the wind but here we arestanding through it all.
Fast forward to this moment, lost in my own world, delusions, nostalgia, paranoia is all I could feel. Our lives have entagled for 5 years, strangers we were but now swimming in the tide that fate brought us. As our oddysyey at this juncture ends, the world out there awaits us,the world where guys would fight to be men and ladies would declined to be tamed, the real world, the battle field, the podium, the centre stage it is.
Taking a cue from  my late friend ( I know him ooo)  Paul Walker, he had the heart of Gold that am sure, he said “You know  all that really matters is the people you love are happy, everything else is just a sprinkle on a sun day, So many friends classmtes have passed this road with us, but as journey continues, what will become of the friendship built, the secret shared, the night under the stars, the moments.. The very bare truth is that some faces would not  live to carve a niche in our hearts, some would be gone with the road, lost to wind , while the very few would have spaces reserved in the depth of our soul with chandeliers beaming over them, The pearls amongst us would walk this journey with us either physically or subconsciously and those other faces gone with the wind would disappear just like a pin in the ocean, water in the desert, shea butter in the sun, the tiniest memory of them would be erased .
Till the day we die, Some faces would never be seen, friendship turn sour, no love lost,no   love found, Paul walker tribute song (don’t blame, Allah made him awesome) goes thus “We only hope the light would guide our way and hold every memory as we go and every road we take would lead us home.
Mentally on a final note,my question for you,Who have you been in the past 5 years, a face that would be gone with the road or a name that would be carved in people’s heart. The future awaits us,the future is here, the future is now…… But we remain UNBENT,UNBOWED,UNBROKEN…
